I. What is a Diesel Generator Set? A Deep Dive into Its Core Structure

A complete diesel generator set mainly includes four core components, each undertaking an indispensable role:


1. Power Source: Diesel Engine

It burns diesel to generate high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which pushes the piston to reciprocate and converts chemical energy into mechanical energy. 2. Power Converter: Generator


If the engine is the "heart", the generator is the "magic workshop" that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. Composed of a stator and a rotor, it uses the engine to drive the rotor to rotate at high speed, cutting the magnetic field lines to generate alternating current. After rectification, voltage stabilization and other processes, it outputs electrical energy that meets the standard for use. The quality of the generator is crucial. It can not only realize unattended automatic start-stop (such as automatic start within 10 seconds when the power grid is cut off) but also has complete protection functions—when faults such as overload, short circuit, low oil pressure, and high water temperature occur, it will immediately trigger shutdown protection to avoid equipment damage. At the same time, the monitoring panel can display key data such as voltage, current, and frequency in real time, allowing operators to grasp the operation status at any time.


4. Auxiliary System: The "Logistics Department" for Operational Support


It includes fuel tank, cooling system, lubrication system, exhaust system, etc. The fuel tank stores diesel and supplies oil stably; the cooling system takes away the high temperature generated by the engine through coolant; the lubrication system ensures the lubrication of moving parts such as pistons and crankshafts to reduce wear; the exhaust system reduces noise through a muffler and is equipped with exhaust gas treatment devices to meet environmental protection requirements.
